This project is for a new build five bedroom family house in Hampstead with a large entertainment hall for spiritual healing that relates to the client’s work. The house has been very carefully designed to be subservient to the conservation area and Grade II Listed property adjacent to it. Due to the surrounding context, our intent is to visually minimize the massing at the front of our design. To this end the proposal includes a basement within the foot-print of the existing dwelling and sets the main mass to the rear of the property. The front elevation is designed to appear as a highly crafted sensitive and sustainable British stone like a garden wall that will appear to be invisible from the street-scene.
